Supply List
- Blank card (we are using 4.5” x 6.25” cards)
- White and colored paper (we are using 4” x 5.8” and 3.6” x 5.3” and so on)
- Die-cut florals
- Full-size stamp
- Stamp positioning folder
- Black stamp ink
- Black embossing powder
- Die cut machine
- Washi tape
- Bearly Art glue
- Heat gun
Step 1: Prepare your materials
Gather all your materials in a clean, spacious workspace. Ensure that your cardstock is cut to the appropriate size, and your stamp is ready for use.
Step 2: Create the Floral Cut-Outs
- Choose the die-cut floral design of your choice.
- Place the design in the center of the medium-sized colored paper and secure it with washi tape.*Be sure you are happy with your placement as this will decide the placement on the other papers.
- Run it through the die-cut machine once.
- Carefully remove the floral piece from the paper.
- Align your cut-out card and the die-cut floral onto the larger white paper and secure with washi tape.
- Run it through the die-cut machine again.
- Repeat the process for the medium-sized card, aligning it with the smaller white card and adding the die-cut floral. Run through the die-cut machine.
Step 3: Cut the Floral out of the Card
- Flatten out your blank card and secure the large white paper on top.
- Attach the die-cut floral shape and run it through the machine.
- Ensure that everything is aligned correctly before proceeding.
Step 4: Stamp and Emboss
- Secure the smallest white card onto the full-size stamp positioning folder. Secure with washi tape.
- Apply black stamp ink to the stamp and press it firmly onto the card.
- Remove excess ink from the stamp and cover the stamped image with VersaMark watermark ink. Press into the card.
- Place your card on a sheet of paper to catch the excess powder and cover it with the embossing powder over the stamped area. Shake off the excess and place back into the jar.
- Use a heat gun to melt the embossing powder until it becomes shiny and raised.
- Pro-tip: Heat the back of the card first and then the front to keep the paper from warping
Step 5: Assemble Your Card
- Carefully layer the cards together using Bearly Art glue.
- Ensure that the floral cut-outs align perfectly to create a cohesive design.
- Allow the glue to dry completely before handling the card.
Step 6: Admire Your Handiwork
Congratulations! You've just created a stunning handmade card with a beautiful floral design.
Want to donate your cards?
Why not donate your cards to Cards for Cubs?
Cards for Cubs is a registered, non-profit organization aiming to support and encourage young people in foster care through uplifting, handmade cards reminding them that they are not alone.
We depend on donors like you for your unique and inspiring cards. We send all donated cards to foster agencies who help get our cards into the hands of the young people in their care.
Caseworkers, who know the child personally use our handcrafted cards to write encouraging notes as they enter, or return to, the foster system.
A card may mean the world to a child, who is working through integrating with a foster family, working on reunification with their biological family, or experiencing adoption.
Let’s work together to place a card in the hand of every young person in the United States foster care to remind them they are loved and cherished.
Crafting your cards can be a rewarding and enjoyable experience, especially when you let your creativity flow and bring a smile to a young person in foster care.
Happy crafting!
