DIY Celestial Arch Cake Topper
Featuring Clearly Craft Plastic
It’s time to enter into a magical realm through this whimsical celestial arch cake topper. In this tutorial, we'll guide you through creating this craft by guiding you through this arch craft.
Let's get started!
Materials Needed:
- Clearly Craft Plastic - Bearly Art
- Precision Craft Glue - Bearly Art
- 60 lb card stock
- Polar or Shadow Cubies - Bearly Art
- Arch SVG
- Celestial Objects SVG
Before you start: Prepare Your Materials
Gather all your materials in a clean, spacious workspace. Ensure that your cardstock is cut, you have your two pieces of Clearly Craft Plastic cut out, and you have all craft materials handy.
Step 1: Prepare Your Arch Frame
To begin, glue around the edges on the front of your background paper arch and attach it to the un-welded arch piece. It should look like your background picture is inside a little window.
Step 2: Create the Shaker Element
Once your background is secured, it’s time to create the shaker element. Take one of the acetate pieces and glue it to fit the frame. (essentially we are making glass for our window).
Once you have it glued down, place Polar or Shadow Cubies (depending on the color scheme of your project) and set them around the borders of your arch. These cubies will keep in the sparkle element so make sure there are no gaps in the Cubies.
Step 3: Fill with Sparkle
Now comes the fun part! Fill with glitter, sequins, or beads. This will add a mesmerizing effect to your shaker arch art.
Step 4: Seal the Shaker Element
To complete the shaker element, glue the remaining acetate piece to the back of the welded frame piece. Attach it to the cubies to seal in the glittery contents securely.
Step 5: Add Dimension with Stars and Clouds
Take your star-shaped layers and glue them together to create a dimensional star. Attach your stars to Cubies for a dimensional interstellar touch. Then, affix the cloud cutouts to the bottom of your arch with glue or Cubies.
We are using the clouds from Cricut Design Space #M479F1C73.
Add your phrase or word to the top of the clouds and glue or attach with Cubies.
Step 6: Final Assembly
To bring it all together, add the entire shaker arch project to the half-arch piece. Ensure it's aligned in the middle of the project so that it lays off-center, adding visual interest to your finished piece.
And there you have it! Your very own DIY shaker arch art is ready to adorn your walls or add a touch of magic to a celebration cake. Experiment with different background papers, shapes, and fillings to personalize your creation even further.
Enjoy crafting!
