Let's get started!
Materials Needed:
- Clearly Craft Plastic - Bearly Art
- Precision Craft Glue - Bearly Art
- 60lb card stock (plain and glitter)
- Polar or Shadow Cubies - Bearly Art
- Filling for the shaker: glitter, sequins, etc
- Ocean Friends Craft File
- Mermaid Tail SVG
- Captivating Coral SVG
- Stunning SeaShell SVG
Before you start: Prepare Your Materials
Gather all your materials in a clean, spacious workspace. Ensure that your cardstock is cut, you have your two pieces of clearly craft plastic cut out, and you have all craft materials handy.
Step 1: Assemble your Shell
To start, unpeel the film lining from both sides of your Clearly Craft Plastic and set it aside.
On the back of the shell outline, glue along the edges and attach to the Clearly Craft Plastic piece. The glitter side should be facing up with the plastic behind it. Sort of like a window!
Step 2: Create the Shaker Element
To create the shaker element, turn the piece you just created upside down.
Notice how you can see the white outline of the shell through Clearly Craft Plastic. This is the guide to where you will want to place your Cubies.
Place Cubies everywhere where you see white. Make sure to say in the lines so your Cubies will not be seen in the final project.
Along the outline of the shell make sure your Cubies make it full circle to create a wall that will add a 3D element to your craft and will hold in all of the glitter and sequins you add.
Make sure there are no gaps in your Cubies to prevent spills.
Step 3: Fill with Sparkle
Now comes the fun part! Fill with glitter, sequins, or beads. This will add a mesmerizing effect to your shaker arch art.
Step 4: Seal the Shaker Element
To complete the shaker element, peel the backing from the Cubies and attach it to the solid purple shell backing.
Turn over and marvel at your colorful shell shaker.
Step 5: Adding your Sea Friends
To create your Whale, add Cubies to the solid metallic color back piece and attach the Print & Cut whale image on top. For extra depth, we printed a second whale and added a third layer with a Cubie.
Repeat the same process for the starfish.
Step 6: Add your coral and banner
To glue down your coral to the background frame, start with the larger coral piece first by gluing it down to the solid overset back. Then glue the smaller coral on top.
Layer your banner together and assemble the end pieces with glue and the large piece with Cubies to make the ribbon pop.
Create your bubbles, by gluing the layers together or adding Cubies for dimension. Crafters choice!
Assemble your mermaid tail by gluing all of the pieces together. Using tweezers in this section will help with precision placement.
Step 6: Final Assembly
Glue or Cubie your pieces together for the final project. Don't forget to add a name or phrase to your banner before adding to the cake.
And there you have it! Your very own DIY Ocean Friends Shaker or Cake Topper art is ready. Experiment with different background papers, shapes, and fillings to personalize your creation even further.
Enjoy crafting!
