Free color palette generator from a photo

Palette Studio pulls a color palette straight out of any photo, right in your browser. Drop in an image and it finds the colors that best represent it — the dominant tones plus the accents that make it pop. Reshuffle for a different mix, lock the colors you love, and fine-tune any swatch until it's just right. Then download a pin-ready image of your photo with the palette and hex codes underneath.

Tweak colors without losing the photo's feel

Every swatch can be nudged a little in hue, saturation or lightness, swapped for a nearby alternate the tool found in your image, or re-sampled with the eyedropper by clicking anywhere on the photo. The adjustments are deliberately small, so your palette always stays true to the picture it came from.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The colors are extracted on your own device, and the photo never leaves your browser.

How many colors can a palette have?

Anywhere from 3 to 8 swatches. Use the plus and minus buttons in step 2; locked colors stay put when the count changes.

How do I get the hex codes?

Click a selected swatch or use Copy hex to copy its code. The downloaded image also prints every hex code on its swatch.

Can I use the palette for my Cricut or craft projects?

Yes. Use the hex codes to match cardstock, vinyl or paint, or to recolor an SVG so a project matches a favorite photo.
